Ingredients
  

Crust Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • ½ teaspoon salt Pinch of salt.

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 cup chocolate chips Consider using dark chocolate chips for a richer taste.
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans You can try adding different types of nuts, like almonds or hazelnuts for a change.
  • 1 cup caramel candies, unwrapped You can use store-bought caramel sauce instead of caramel candies.
  • 1 tablespoon milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, softened butter, and salt. Stir until you have a soft dough.
  • Press this dough into the bottom of a greased baking dish.

Cooking

  • Bake the crust in the oven for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped nuts over the warm crust.
  • In a small pan, melt the caramel candies with the milk until smooth.
  • Pour the melted caramel over the chocolate and nuts in the dish.
  • Take the dish back to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

Serving

  • Let it cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

Serve these bars warm or at room temperature. They are delicious on their own or can be topped with whipped cream or ice cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
